SNAKE ON GLACIER

Switzerland, Pontresina January 19th 2025

This artwork created during the full moon and celebrates the start of the Chinese New Year of the Lunar Snake, the UN Year of Glacier Preservation, and 75 years of diplomatic friendship between Switzerland and China. The projected snake was 3.5 km long, a Burmese tiger python, which is also on the UN's red list. Like many other things on our planet, both glaciers and tiger pythons are in danger of disappearing if we do not take action to protect them.

MATTERHORN TWO LIGHTS

Switzerland, Zermatt – 2020 Hope for the world

Light for the world as a sign of hope during the global lockdown caused by COVID-19. During the night with a clear sky, the Matterhorn was illuminated by two light sources simultaneously. the summit by the rising full moon from left from the east and the lower part of the mountain by Gerry Hofstetter's light art projection. The picture was taken on April 9, 2020, at 9:13 p.m. by team photographer Frank Schwarzbach. An hour later, the projection on the mountain was no longer visible because the moon shines seven times brighter than Gerry's projectors. A magical moment of nature and art that cannot be repeated. Light is hope.

MARS ON EARTH

Switzerland, Zermatt – 2022 NASA take-off to the Mars

The projected size of Mars is 1.8 km in diameter, which is about 0.027% of the real Mars. Having imagination is key to developing a vision. Realising a vision is another talent.

LOVE YOUR PLANET

Switzerland, Davos 2024 – SOS World Tour

The image shows both the full moon and the Earth, which is unique. During the WEF World Economic Forum, the Earth was projected onto the mountains above Davos after a snowstorm. The heart shape was created by the contours of the mountain peaks. The artwork was realised as the key visual for the “SOS World Tour to 8 Continents,” which started in 2025, the “UN International Year of Glacier’s Preservation”. As part of the tour, a glacier on each continent will be illuminated with large “SOS” letters – in the hope that this will be seen in space and we will receive help from the universe to save humanity and planet Earth. Since we come from space, the knowledge must also come from there. If possible, photos of the projected “SOS” will be taken from space, from the ISS or from satellites. Tests have already taken place. The picture shows Gerry Hofstetter’s shadow as he tries to hold the Earth in place so that it does not roll away. In 70 years 80% of the glaciers in Europe will be gone, 50% already in 25 years, and worldwide 30% of the visible glaciers too. The average age of a newborn child in 2025 will be 72 years, as per UNO. Look around you and start thinking and calculating!

limited to 100 art works,

120 x 180cm, photo printed on fine art paper, mounted on hardboard, wooden frame. This world premiere features a remote-controlled dimmable backlight of the exact projection of the earth and the moon. Needs electric power 220 Volt for displaying it. It is giving the feeling, like standing next to Gerry Hofstetter in the night while watching the projection. It comes with the original signature of NASA astronaut and tenth moonwalker, Charles "Charlie" Duke, from Apollo 16. In April 1972, at the age of 36, he achieved the distinction of being the youngest person to set foot on the moon.
